What breakdowns exist in the world? Of course, there is the smoke coming out the bonnet, hazard lights on and being stuck on the hard shoulder, type of breakdown. When a banana is left out too long and turns into a mere squidge of a bite, type of breakdown. Yet the breakdown in question today is that within Cue J’s latest track, a euphoric, melodic house number. This is Ducale’s ninth release and the first that we have offered as a free download. Now allow me, Cue J, to breakdown some of the details and inspiration behind the music.

Well the initial lust for creating a tune like this came from when Four Tet released his track “Looking At Your Pager”. Encapsulating and enamouring, that tune brought big moments to festivals that summer. In particular, and while I only watched on the TV, his set at Glastonbury was the moment that spurred me on. What a moment for everyone in the crowd experiencing this, were my exact thoughts. After subsequent years of trying to find a tune that hit in a similar way, I believe my urge has been fulfilled.

In similar fashion, my track uses a delayed clap build up and chopped up vocals. However, with use of the lush sounding Super 6 synthesizer, I brought about my own melodic touch. I remember being fraught with happiness when the moment came, as it does in the studio, when you make a banging tune. In any case, I could imagine that if Four Tet had played this tune instead at Glasto, there would have been a similar outcome.
